On Friday we were very glad that we were not taking Kayla home as originally scheduled. She apparently had a bit of gas and we got a glimpse of what an angry Kayla looks and sounds like. We were very thankful to have the nurses to assist and give advice. Of course it was also a nice break to have to leave the NICU for shift changes.
Today (Sunday) has been a very busy day. Kayla had her feeding tube removed this morning. She also had her car seat test (sitting in a car seat for 90 minutes without dropping her heart rate or respiration) which she passed with no problems. Dwight and I are currently staying in the overnight room with Kayla at the hospital. This is suppose to prepare us for home and allow us to practice taking care of her on our own. Of course the nurses are just down the hall and a phone call away. So far so good, but the night is young!!!
