When we found out we were pregnant we both said "We don't know what to do with a baby!" We were becoming a little concerned about her arrival and what we would do with her. Kayla's stay in the NICU is like a practice run! We learned how to change diapers, take her temperature and give her a bath, among other things. It's a very good thing we are getting practice though we still need a lot more. The NICU experience is a blessing! Of course we love spending time with her and then going home to sleep while the nurses baby sit for us!
Kayla decided to play a little trick on Dwight the other night. He was changing her poopy diaper when she decided to poop on his hand. I found this quite entertaining but Dwight was not laughing. He was a bit flustered by the event but I think that was because poop was on her cute clothes and on her bedding. Last night I was changing her poopy diaper and she tried her little trick again. However I was wise to her ways and had another diaper under her so there was no mess! Nice try Kayla! I also had the pleasure of dressing her last night. Much easier said then done!
Miss Kayla is 3 lbs 11oz but still swollen. She was increased to 8 hours on the nasal cannula and seemed to be doing well with it. The doctor had a Physical therapist come to see her to help with her leg development. Her legs are starting to go out to the side so they thought physical therapy would help her. She will continue to have it when she comes home. The eye doctor should be coming this week to check her again. Overall she is still doing well!

Hey Kayla! Nice work - Dwight is good target practice - but you should be nice to your Mom!!
ReplyDeleteDwight is in for a whole lot more than poopy diapers before Kayla grows to be an adult. My advice? "Deal with it." - Dr Steve
