Little Miss Independent

Kayla has decided that she doesn't need anyone to hold her pacifier/binky for her anymore. She now holds it herself with either both hands or just one. She also has decided that she can pull her feeding tube out whenever she is tired of it. The nurses do not seem very entertained by this trick but at least she is good when they put it back in. Of course she still likes to mess with her CPAP or cannula whenever she can. She almost always has one hand on it ready to pull it off at any moment. Kayla has become quite a little Miss Independent!

Kayla is up to a crazy 4 lbs 4 oz today, gaining 5 oz from yesterday. The Doctor said that is too much weight for one day. She is retaining fluids mainly in her legs so the doctors are going to give her medicine to help her get rid of some fluid. She had physical therapy this week and the physical therapist taught us different exercises to do with her. She seems to be pretty tolerant of them. The eye doctor should be coming to take a look at her tomorrow. Overall she is a happy 'little' baby who loves to be held.

  1. Good to hear that little Kayla is showing her independence at such a young age. She sounds like she's getting tired of having all those tubes around, let's hope she'll be able to get rid of them permanently before long. Her weight gain is amazing, and she looks so cute in her own clothes. Thinking of you all as always. Love, Judy

  2. Hey guys! Rob and I have been following your posts. We chat about all of you often and are enjoying Kayla's personality; I would expect nothing less! I really enjoyed the "kangaroo" post. What a wonderful moment - that had to be therapeutic on many levels- the Healing power of touch. Looking forward to meeting her. Love and hugs to you all. Love, Lori
