First Family Trip

We all survived our first family trip. Last Friday we headed north in Dwight's parents camper (a.k.a the Dot and Dan Party Van). Kayla was absolutely wonderful during the long drive! She slept the entire time except for when we had to stop for a few traffic lights in Lewisburg. We even had to wake her to feed her!

We stopped in Muncy, PA to visit our friends from college, Marsha and Jarrod, which we greatly enjoyed. Kayla got to see a real cow for the first time, although she didn't seem very excited about it. Then we continued north to Lindley, NY to look at some goats. It was technically Kayla's first time in a goat barn since she hasn't gone in our barn yet. Again she didn't seem very impressed.

We met up with another friend from college, Suter, and his wife and had dinner in our hotel room. We aren't quite ready yet to take Kayla out in actual public, like to a restaurant. Kayla slept great in her pack n' play and I had to wake her up to feed her again.

In the morning we headed back to the goat barn for the auction. Kayla and I hung out in the camper since there were a lot of people at the sale. I could hear the auction from the camper and got a little scared when I heard the goat we wanted sell for $2200. Thankfully Dwight was not the one bidding on it. The goats at the auction all ended up selling for out of our price range so we met up with a woman that also had goats for sale. We went over to her house and after a couple of hours picked a very nice looking buck. Suter and his wife are kindly bringing the goat down from NY this weekend for us.

Kayla had an equally as pleasant ride home which we were very thankful for! Overall we decided that Kayla did better on the trip then Dwight and I.

I learned several things on this trip:
Warming bottles in a vehicle is not easy. The travel bottle warmer for the car takes a very long time to warm a bottle, way longer then Kayla was willing to wait. It's much easier to stop at McDonalds and get a cup of hot water.

Cleaning bottles in a vehicle is also not easy.

No matter now many burp clothes and blankets you pack, it will never be enough. However, paper towels make wonderful disposable burp clothes.

Kayla's physical therapist came on Tuesday. She agreed that Kayla's head control is improving and she gave us some more exercises/homework to do. We now get to practice rolling over. She also gave us advise on how to get Kayla to fit better in her travel swing. Kayla tends to chill out in the travel swing while mommy works so this information was very helpful.

Yesterday Kayla 'assisted' with planting the garden. Unfortunately I haven't been able to dedicate much time to the garden this year but hopefully something will grow.
