A few weeks ago Kayla used the laundry basket to pull herself up to standing. She was very proud of herself and now uses everything (mainly people) to pull herself up. She also has developed a very interesting technique to sit up from a laying position. Instead of laying on her back and using her abdominal muscles to crunching up to sitting, she lays on her belly and sticks her butt up in the air until the weight of her large butt (and gravity) pulls her into a sitting position. It is quite entertaining to watch but it seems to work for her. A couple of weeks ago she started her attempts at crawling. She is getting pretty good at 'army crawling' and actually can get moving pretty fast. She mainly just uses her elbows and moves her hips/legs back and forth. She hasn't learned yet to use her hands and knees. We figure it's just a matter of time until she has crawling perfected. Of course, all the movement makes her sleepy!
Kayla went to the doctors on Tuesday. She is now 16lbs and 13oz, which finally puts her on the growth chart for an 11 month old!!!! She received 3 injections which she wasn't very happy about but hopefully they will help her stay healthy. The doctor said to start increase the amount of baby food she gets because next month we are going to slowly stop giving her formula and start giving cows milk instead.
Discovery:
The more mobile a baby gets, the more mess you have to clean up when their diaper doesn't do it's job! We have been going through lots of clothes, diapers and changing table covers recently. With all the advancements in technology you think they could make a diaper that doesn't let poopies out!
Love the photos and news about Kayla - she is a little cutie - such good news that she is mobile, the fun will now begin - lots of love, Judy
